FAIRY TALES LIVES IN BOOKS

Image
ABOUT THE BOOK Fairy tales are one of the significant stories told to us as children. We were fed with tales of Prince Charming and love was painted as being perfect. However, not all fairy tales have a happy ending. This is the saddest truth we have to come to realize as we grow up. In this great book, the writer presents an unforgettable tapestry of love and heartbreaks in an intellectual manner. KNOWLEDGE IS NOT STATIC

Hello Readers, it's really been lovely having you on this journey with Mobola Writes and you all are highly appreciated. So, I'll be sharing an experience I encountered way back and in the process, I'll be inspiring and enlightening us. I had travelled to spend my Yuletide holiday with my aunt that particular year. I bet you can relate to the joy that fills our heart as children when it's holiday period. She's been the cook since I arrived while I watch and help out with little errands, however, she told me to prepare vegetable soup that fateful evening because she was busy with other stuffs. As a young lady, I had set out to prove my culinary skills even though I was lazy most times to cook. By the way, I'm not a good cook but I'll never add too much salt to your food. So calm down (lol). I remembered setting the gas, placing the pot on it and then, I added water. Funny, isn't it? I was in the process of mixing the melon (egusi) when my aunt came in

CHRISTMAS; A SEASON OF LOVE OR HATE?

Image
It is a wonder that we, at one time or the other, marvel at the hatred spreading its wing in our society today. However, with this thought comes another showing its head in a corner, telling us to mind our business and leave hate to those hating; thus giving us room to forget that we are in the same boat as we have hated others and hated by others too. A friend spoke to me about an incident in her compound, which amuses her and at the same time baffles her, an irony right. She was coming back from church on a not so pleasant Sunday. On getting home, she received a huge hug from a little girl. She was taken aback, as the girl's parents so to say were not on talking terms with other neighbours. “God knows I needed that hug” she said to me, “but I had to strain from such display of emotion since I didn't want to land the little girl in trouble with her parent”. Then, I begin to wonder why parents make sure their offsprings follow suit when they are not in good terms wit

THE CHANGE WE WANT

Image
Wow! It is another Thursday and guess what, I love Thursdays. Basically, we all have that one thing we wish to change about the world, the society we live in and even about ourselves. So today on Variety Thursday, we would be sharing and discussing that particular thing. What would you love to change about yourself, the society you live in and the entire world if you had the power and opportunity to do so?

READING; THE RAINBOW OF LIFE

Image
It is of no doubt that reading adds colour to life and meaning to one's existence. Each book read is like a sharpened colour pencil. Although some people are still oblivious to this wonderful fact.  However, the good news is that we can share our coloured pencil with others by suggesting wonderful books we have read. This is to encourage others to build reading habits. Kindly suggest and leave a review of the books you've read in the comment section and let us share in your library. Reading is fun! Reading is beautiful! Reading is power!

GRATITUDE

Image
I left home sometimes back with a burdened heart even though I managed to let out a smile. I kept pondering and dealing with my inner conflict throughout my journey to school. I was on the staircase, when something happened. I was jolted to reality by a sharp pain. Someone had mistakenly pushed me and the normal me would have shouted but I didn't know why I was calm. "I'm sorry", came the voice while I replied same. He furthered by saying " could you please lead me to room 202?" Only then did I discover he was visually impaired. One thing that caught my attention was the fact that he was all smiles, full of joy and greeted everyone as I led him to his destination but here I was looking all gloomy because I couldn't get a particular thing. Such a paradox, right?  Often times, we brood and fail to be grateful for what we have because we can't get that particular thing we want but those who are not privileged to have that little still find it in t

THROWBACK MEMORIES

Yaay! It is Thursday and we've discovered that it is boring to be serious all the time. The human brain, mind and body needs some time to rest, relax, enjoy and free some memories. As a result, I would not be sharing my experience(s) today but rather, we'll be sharing our favourite childhood memories so we could learn, laugh and relate. It is tagged THROWBACK MEMORIES Feel free to share your memories with friends and lovers in the comment section. I'll be waiting!

SMILE; A SPECIAL GIFT

Image
I have come to realise that one of the greatest gift you can give to someone without thinking of the cost is your smile. Seems so little, right? Yes, but a warm smile can give life to a dying soul. However, smiling should not be limited to our circle alone. I have noticed that most people retracts that smile from those at wrung of the social ladder. Instead of smiling, they frown and say hurtful words to them. But the truth is not everyone can be rich, and those we feel are inferior to us have their usefulness. We all need one another to make life worth living and easier. This new found mentality was what informed my actions sometimes back. Few months ago, I made a decision to smile and greet every menial job workers I meet on my way. From the road cleaners, to the petty traders, beggars and the less privileges. At first, it was tasking but with time, I got accustomed to it. From what I discovered, smiling and greeting them was a source of hope; a kind of message that they are huma

BUILDING THE FOUNDATION RATHER THAN FOCUSING ON THE BUILDING

Image
On Sunday, I spent 45 minutes of my life listening to how to keep a relationship (marriage). You needed to see the smile and blush on the married couples' faces; they kept nodding in affirmation to what the preacher was saying while we, the singles kept looking like a lost sheep. To save myself from the trauma, 'cause I couldn't relate to what's being said, I started fondling with my phone. As if reading our minds, the preacher went ahead to talk on relationship for singles for just ten minutes with the popular Bible quote "do not be unequally yoke with unbelievers". I bet you all can see the inequality attached to these things. While marriage took 45mins, single hood took just 10mins, that is, more prominence was/is given to marriage and this is where the mistakes come in. In reality, marriage is not the ultimate and if we can spend more time in building the foundation (single hood), laying the blocks properly and grooming singles, we'll have less issues

MY PLAN VERSUS GOD'S PLAN

Image
When God does some things, we actually feel or think it's a detriment to our person. We feel dejected, rejected and absolutely neglected. It seems like we are at the end of it all and there is no hope. That's applicable to my story of wanting to be a lawyer and a human right activist. If you check the back of my secondary school notebooks, you'll see the inscription Mobola, the activist. Funny, right? I was so sure of it and thought "nothing could/would ever change my resolve" but lo and behold, God had a different plan. As it is now, I doubt if I'll ever be happy if I had gone into that field. You know why? I didn't really prepare myself for what the job entails - learning to accommodate and keeping a cool head about situations. This girl you see would blow things out of proportion, talk harshly, scream and all of that. Maybe by now, I'd have broken someone's head or I would have forgotten how to smile/laugh genuinely (lol). Hence, why God skill
