THE JOURNEY TO THE TOP

Image
Josephine O. Ogufere writeup on Online Publishers and Entrepreneurs Network about stairs and elevator inspired me to write this. You can read more about hers using the link:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/openetwork/permalink/1035893866870632/?app=fbl Source: pinterest.com Stairs and elevator are two different medium an individual can use to get to the top. Nevertheless, both produces different outcomes even though they are similar in nature. More often than not, people prefer to use the elevator and avoid the stairs because it is stressful and time taking not considering the numerous benefits that comes with taking the stairs. This is mostly the case when it comes to success and achievements. Elevator enables you to attain your success in a very fast and convenient pace, however, eliminating the process of growth which is a necessary requirement for sustainability. On the other hand, stairs seem stressful but it drags you through various stages of growth needed for sust

LAW OF ATTRACTION

Image
I came to the understanding of this one thing about relationship or better put, attraction. You are what you attract! Hard as it may seem, the supposed energy you discharge or the value you dish out, consciously or unconsciously, is what attracts people to you; especially people of like minds. You will agree with me that this law of attraction went into extinction at a particular time but has been revived with the current wave and revolution in the digital world. Even Mark understands this process hence, friends are always suggested based on what you stand for. Thus, there is every likelihood your friend suggestions is centered on people who write if you are a content creator and so on. Goals must be achieved and somewhat pairing with someone who has no idea in what you are pursuing may lead to setback. Be intentional about what you attract! Be the type of person you want to attract! Discharge positive value and watch your circles filled with intellectuals and peopl

I AM HUMAN

Image
"I Am Human" is an impacting collection of poems ranging from diverse themes such as love, romance, betrayal, reconciliation, understanding in marriage and lots more that you  should find out for yourself. This anthology is a noracle of corrections and good tidings to every human.  Never forget you're a human just like I Am Human. -MKPE DANIEL ATU ___________________________________________________________________________________ Read what Elizabeth has to say about the book Have you ever felt that heart wrenching pain that you just want it gone? The adrenaline  that courses through your body when you see that special person. Those never ending  chills you have running through you, creating goosebumps. Have you felt so much bitterness, rage, hurt that it destabilise you? It all feels like these emotions are encroaching on you, caging you in and is beyond your control. Did you try to stop them all because you don't want to feel them? Because the

SOCIAL MEDIA HANDLES ARE VIRTUAL REPRESENTATION OF YOUR VALUE

It is actually so disheartening reading captions like "f*ck haters, if you're not feeding me..." on social media in this present age. I have written about this and I will keep hammering on it. Social media has gone far beyond this. It is a form of portfolio that gives people, such as employers and prospective clients, a glimpse about your person. They really don't need to meet you physically before they form the basis of their perception about you; and in most cases it can either be good or bad, depending on the content and value you put up on your walls. Gone are the days when a book is not judged by its cover. If you really still believe in this, then you need to upgrade. Nowadays, a book is judged by its cover. More reasons publishing companies pay close attention to book covers because it's part of the element that gives insight to what the said book entails.  In all honesty, people are drawn to those with substance that can positively impact their lives

JOLIFICATION WEEKEND

Hi lovers, The weekend is here already and I was thinking on what to write on and boom, something came to mind. Today, I will be writing on ways to enjoy leisure during weekends or better put, things to do and avoid during your leisure and on weekends. It is no news that Lagos alone is stressful not to talk of her children: stress and traffic. These two are energy sapping and if not properly managed can lead to various health issues. Thus, it is important to devise a means to recover all lost strength in order to be fully prepared for the coming week. Now, sit back and enjoy. Sleeping First on my list is sleep, sound sleep. I know many people will have predicted this to be the first thing I would mention. Sleep is a natural antistress drug needed to regain lost energy. You do not need to have a basket full of pain relievers; just sleep and watch it do its magic. Writing Contrary to people's opinion that writing is stressful, writing can be a form leisure activity. It do

DISCIPLINE BEFORE PLEASURE

I will try as much as possible not to sound like a motivational speaker because I am not one and it takes a whole lot of professionalism to attain that feat. Thinking far back now, I would probably had laughed out so loud if someone had told I would fall in love with writing. Writing, to me, was an unattainable goal. I considered it very complex and the dos and don't were all just too much for me to comprehend. As we are aware that there are basically four communication skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing; I will still choose writing over speaking despite its complexity. You must be wondering in your mind that I am a weird fellow. Of course, I am. Being normal is boring. I do understand that every skills has its own area of complexity, in which writing and other communication skills is not exempted, however, as individual we are always willing to bend to the tenets of one than the other. Writing started off as a discipline for me. It took me years to discover t

MONEY RITUAL HACK 101

Image
I saw this picture and the first thing that came to mind was "really". Naturally, garri is referred to as a "poor" man food but can same be said of this commodity in this present day. Definitely no! The reactions from people got me laughing. Eighty percent of the people who commented on the post did not say Amen to it. Some even went as far as saying "let me deal with my portion while you face yours". Quite funny, right? The answer is not far fetched. Garri simply paired with an alternative that increased its value. Yeah, it took time but it eventually got there. To me, I would say garri has increased in value and currently, its market value is far greater than what it used to be. Thus, a bowl of garri in the market today is #1,200 or thereabouts as opposed to the initial price of #400.  These days, garri can no longer be described as a poor man's food as even the poor can barely afford it. One notable mistake we make in this generation is t

INVESTMENT: THE ORDER OF THE DAY

Dad and I got talking about my grandpa; how he lived a luxurious life, his no nonsense attitude and his disciplinary actions. Dad even went ahead to say my grandpa was a disciplinarian to the core. Sadly, I was still too young when he died. But I was amused and knew for sure that I was a true blood of Pa Adeoye, as he was fondly called. Nevertheless, something struck me when dad brought out grandpa's picture to show me. This man was clad in a damask agbada (the oldies will understand what it means to have damask back then) complemented with a gold wristwatch, necklace and a shining shoe. The lense of his glasses shone bright in the picture. All these descriptions pinpointed to something. My grandpa was rich! But he made a mistake, a great one at that. He did not believe in INVESTMENT. He owned no land, houses or companies despite his riches. Investment is one great way of preserving one's riches. Like investopedia rightly defined, investment is the act of putting money to w

CONCEPT OF THEORY AND APPLICATION

Image
Photo credit: TeamDouble Someone once asked me if I can communicate in pidgin and I gallantly said yes. I mean I hear people saying the language around me, moreover, I studied it as a course in school. So why shouldn't I be able to effectively use it in communication. Mobola has forgotten that theory is far different from practical. A truth some people are yet to come to terms with. Only heaven knows if my village people heard me boasting that day and they decided to disgrace me. Using pidgin in spontaneous speech is more difficult than you can ever imagine.  "Mobola, how far na? I hear say you dey run a blog. You fit explain wetin d blog dey for" came the question. I stood there transfixed. I did not know what to say. Not that I did not have the answer but it dawned on me I could not make a long sentence with pidgin especially when a Warri boy is involved. I would have to overcome that feat with cold mixing (mixing one language with another in a sentenc
